Automatic filename feature has stopped working for videos below 720p quality

Web Cruiser hace 7 años actualizado por Aleksandr hace 7 años 9

Whenever I download a YouTube video in .mp4 format, it normally assigns a filename automatically using the title of the video. This feature works just fine for videos in 720p quality. However, when I try to download the 360p version, it does not automatically assign the filename anymore. Instead, it just assigns a default filename of "videoplayback.mp4".

Something must have changed on your end because I only started to notice this issue about two months ago, in late October 2016. Prior to that, this feature was working just fine for .mp4 videos of any quality. I only realized now that I could actually report this issue to you. Anyway, now that I have, I hope you can do something about it.

Apart from that, I think your site is great and that you provide a really good service. More power to you!

Hello, in order to help you better I need the following information.

Please, send me the information listed here: http://en.savefrom.net/user.php?info=1

Send a couple of video links is downloaded with the wrong name.

Do you download via the extension SaveFrom.net Helper or the website SaveFrom.net?

  • Browser: Chrome 55.0.2883 Windows 7
  • User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/55.0.2883.87 Safari/537.36
  • Extension: userjs-chrome 6.92.2

I use Tampermonkey. However, even when I download directly from savefrom.net, the 360p links still assign the default filename "videoplayback.mp4". As I mentioned, this only started happening about 2 months ago. Thank you for your help. I really hope you can resolve this issue.

Here is a sample:

When I right-click and save link as to download the 720p version, the filename is:

Rogue One_ A Star Wars Story Trailer (Official).mp4

When I try to download the 360p version, the filename is "videoplayback.mp4"

Go to Tampermonkey settings, enable Advance settings mode -> Downloads BETA -> Download Mode: browser api.Restart TM – everything should be working.

Thank you very much again for your reply. I followed your instructions precisely. Unfortunately, however, it did not fix the problem. The results are still the same. 720p filenames are okay, 360p are still videoplayback.mp4. I really hope you have some more ideas about how to fix this issue.

Remove Tampermonkey.

Install the extension Chameleon.

Install the extension here in these links.
Google Chrome. First 1 then 2.
1. Install the extension Chameleon: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/chameleon/dmpojjilddefgnhiicjcmhbkjgbbclob?hl=en-US

2. Install the extension Savefrom.Net: https://addons.opera.com/en/extensions/details/savefromnet-helper/?display=en

I honestly don't think the problem is with the extension. Because even when I completely disable the extension and download directly from your website at http://en.savefrom.net and enter ANY YouTube link, the results are exactly the same:

Could you please try go to the website yourself, enter this sample link www.youtube.com/watch?v=frdj1zb9sMY and try downloading the 360p file and see if you get different results? As for me, I always get "videoplayback.mp4".

Thanks again for your assistance, Aleksandr!

The site is not technically possible to correct.

Fix can only be an assistant.

Go to Tampermonkey settings, enable Advance settings mode -> Downloads BETA -> Download Mode: browser api.Restart TM – everything should be working.

If you do the right thing will work.
